The Finance department, led by the CFO, is responsible for the daily transactional accounting tasks around invoicing and sales reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and payroll, and the monthly processing of the general ledger and financial reports. Further, the team encompasses infrastructure and ERP planning and support, capital expenditure planning and tracking, sales pricing, customer programs, and commissions, and the reporting and tracking of daily sales orders through various media.

The Chapin R&D and Engineering teams provide solutions for the distribution and application of liquid and granular agricultural products through the design and development of professional and do it yourself sprayer and spreader products.

The Engineering group takes ideas and turns them into products.  Engineering works with most areas of Chapin including Sales, Marketing, Production, Quality and Product Support for feedback on existing or ideas for new products.  Sales and Marketing often will bring ideas based on what they see in the market place as a need for new product.  Production and Quality will often have Engineering review the process or design of a part or product based on issues with supply or how a product is assembled or manufactured.  Manufacturing process improvements may include introduction of automation or a fixture to determine if a part meets its proper dimensions or function.  Product Support works with Engineering on an ongoing basis for knowledge transfer for customer solutions as well as listening to the voice of the customer.

Oversee the organization’s human resources functions and define organizational HR policies. Develop and deliver talent management programs that support the organization’s overall strategic direction. The function of the manufacturing department is to physically convert the sales forecast into salable goods, control there storage and get them shipped at the appropriate time.  Other employees may contact the manufacturing/logistics department for questions regarding material availability, material costs, production process priority, manufacturing questions, alternative material questions, production capacity questions, shipping questions.

Master Scheduling: Responsible for efficiently and effectively converting finished goods sales forecast into a build schedule used by Chapin’s manufacturing department(s).  Other employees may contact the Production Control department for questions regarding finished goods availability, Job order BOM material availability and deviations, production priorities, production quota and capacity questions.

In doing so, the quality department supports many functions including operations/manufacturing, incoming inspection, supplier quality, our quality management system (QMS), customer service/complaints, returned goods, and new product development.

The sales department works in unison to promote Chapin across the world, drive sales, and dedicate ourselves to seeing through customer’s requests. Our directors Steve Hickey and Chris Rumfola oversee the sales team and are in constant communication with our national sales managers located all around the country. Because Chapin has accumulated so many customers, the sales managers couldn’t possibly manage all of them. Therefor Chapin also has multiple partnerships with sales rep agencies where each is assigned a group of customers based off location to manage and ensure our customers are getting the attention they deserve. The sales department and rep agencies work together to make sure every customer is provided with Chapin product to fit their every need. It’s a very fast paced and collaborative environment, as we all need to complete our own tasks within each process through effective communication in order to successfully generate sales, fulfill each customer’s need, and create long lasting personal connections with each customer.

The logistics department is in charge of customer fulfillment.  We coordinate and ship all customer orders, from full truckloads down to small single envelopes. We also handle any inbound components needed to support manufacturing. In addition to all that we also manage small private fleet of trucks that service the company’s needs from Kentucky to Batavia. Our goal is to have the right product in the right place, on time, every time.
